Self-monitoring means listening to yourself and noticing when something sounds different from a native speaker. It is one of the most powerful skills for improving pronunciation!
1
👂 Listen to the example
Press 🔊 and listen carefully to how the word or sentence sounds. Focus on one thing at a time: the vowel, the stress, or the intonation.
2
🎙 Record yourself
Press Record and say the same word or sentence. Try to copy what you heard as closely as possible.
3
🔍 Compare and find the difference
Play your recording back, then listen to the native example again. Ask yourself: Was my vowel short or long enough? Did I stress the right syllable? Did my voice go up or down?
4
🔄 Try again!
Repeat until your recording sounds closer to the example. Even small improvements are great progress!
Remember: The goal is not to be perfect — it is to notice the difference and get a little better each time!
